Along the way to the Blue City – Chefchaouen, you will visit and enjoy some magnificent landscapes. Chedchaouen is a city in the Rif Mountains of northwest Morocco therefore you can see it on the way to Chefchaouen. During this Day Tour, you can see the beauty of a newly born city which was only established in 1471 as a fortress, from where it grew vastly to become home for over 40000 locals. It’s famous for all the house and shops painted different shades of blue. Some say it was painted blue by the Jews who settled there after fleeing Hitler, others say it’s to keep the mosquitos away, while some just said it represent the color of the sea, and now you can explore this amazing city in person to find out the stories of the city with us. The narrow streets have a European feel to them, but with an obvious Arabic touch. At every turn, at every inch, a photo opportunity awaits.

Once you’ve entered the Medina of Chefchaouen you should start climbing to “Rass El Ma” which is a very famous water source on the top of a mountain, and it is key location for locals who go there to cool down in front of the frest waters, from which you can see most of the city and peruse its mountainous terrain. On your way to the top, you will come across the following monuments and symbolic buildings like Plaza “Uta el-Hammam” which is a square surrounded with cafes and restaurants,a peaceful place to relax and watch the world go by. In the square, you will see the ‘’Kasbah’’ which dates back to the 18th century, a heavily restored walled fortress that now has a lovely garden on Chefchaouen.
However, we will visit the Spanish Mosque before end this day tour. The Spanish Mosque was built in the 1920’s and sits on a hill that perfectly overlooks
Chefchaouen’s medina. In fact, the mosque was never actually used but you can enjoy the view here. The only way to get up there to enjoy this incredible view is to take the hike up there. After the day tour from Fes to Chefchaouen, we will drive you back to Fes.
