Day 1 , Arrival Amman (37 Km) Upon arrival, a member of our staff will meet you at Queen Alia International Airport to assist you with customs and immigration formalities. Transfer to your hotel in Amman. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 , Amman/ Jerash/ Ajlun/ Um Qais/ Amman (260 Km) Breakfast. Depart Amman to visit the Greco-Roman City of Jerash, also known as the City of the thousand columns. Jerash showcases the grandeur of Imperial Rome (and is sometimes referred to as the Pompeii of the East). It is considered one of the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the World outside Italy. As the most pristine Decapolis City (meaning ten cities in Greek) in the modern world, Jerash’s prosperity can be admired in the collonaded main street and lovely Oval Piazza. Visit the town of Ajlun with its fortress; one of the best-preserved examples of medieval Arab military architecture in the entire Middle East, which was once governed by Saladin. Enjoy the magnificent view into the Jordan Valley. Proceed to visit Um Qais, a city rich with black basalt ruins of the Hellenistic era in which it was known as Gadara, a hilltop site in the northwest corner of Jordan with grand views of the Golan Heights and Lake Tiberius (the Sea of Galilee). Um Qais is also famous for being one of the ten cities that belonged to the Decapolis. Return to Amman for a free evening at leisure. Overnight at hotel.
Breakfast. Departure to start the City Tour of Amman, where you will visit Jebel al-Qala'a (the Citadel), with its remains of the Roman Temple of Hercules, Umayyad Palace and excellent views over downtown. The National Archaeological Museum, home to ancient findings from the whole country, is located on the Citadel grounds. Continue to the impressive Roman Theater, the largest in Jordan, with room for 6,000 spectators. The small Folklore Museum and Museum of Popular Traditions are adjacent to the Theater. Free time for walking/shopping in bustling markets of the downtown area, locally known as al-Balad. Transfer to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on the surface of the earth, for a swim in its unique salt-rich waters. Free time at leisure. Overnight at hotel
Breakfast. Departure through the King's Highway, an ancient route that still has marks left from traders, armies and pilgrims who crossed it centuries ago, which was once part of the ancient Silk Road. Visit the Christian Town of Madaba, which is known as ‘The City of Mosaics’. You will be visiting the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, where you will see the masterpiece of Madaba (a Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land that goes back to the 6th century, showing Jerusalem and other cities), you will also visit the Archaeological Park, which houses the remains of several Byzantine churches, including the amazing mosaics of the Church of the Virgin. The park complex includes a school for the restoration and conservation of ancient mosaics. Take a detour to Mt. Nebo, which is considered to be one of the most important holy sites in Jordan, as it is believed to be the place where Moses climbed from the Valley of Moab, and from where God showed him the Promised Land, as well as Moses’ last resting place. It features ruins from the 4th to the 6th century with marvellous mosaics adorning the grounds of the church still visible. Proceed via Wadi Al Mujib, a gorge proudly known as “The Grand Canyon” of Jordan, featuring some of Jordan's most breathtaking views, where you can stop for a few minutes to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view. Continue the journey to the city of Kerak, where you will visit the Crusader's Castle, with its diverse history dated from the Byzantine to the Mamluk period, and get to know the architectural military brilliance of the Crusaders. Continue to your hotel in Petra. Overnight at hotel
Day 5 , Petra (1 Km) Breakfast. We will start our journey to explore Petra, aptly described as the “Rose-Red city, half as old as time”. The ancient city was founded by the Nabateans 2000 years ago. Its massive architectural structure and its multicoloured stones are an incredible attraction. The visit of the ancient Nabatean capital starts on horseback, followed by a walk through the Siq, a long narrow fissure between two overhanging cliffs. Towards the end of the Siq, you will be spellbound by Petra's most famous monument; the Treasury. The tour then proceeds to gradually unfold the mysteries of the city. Return to your hotel in Petra. Overnight at hotel.
Breakfast. Transfer to Beida, also known as Little Petra and the place where the Nabateans used to entertain their guests. Continue south to the enchanting desert of Wadi Rum, Jordan's largest desert and one of the most spectacular desert landscapes in the world. Proceed to the Gulf city of Aqaba, Jordan's window on the Red Sea, on the edge of the Gulf of Aqaba and surrounded by high desert mountains, enjoys a pleasant climate year-round. It is well known for its beach resorts and luxury hotels, for those who come for fun in the sand as well as watersports like windsurfing and Scuba diving in one of the world's best-preserved coral reefs. Day 2 OR Day 3 OR Day 7 • Dinner Suggestion - Home cooking and dining experience at Beit Sitti, which is located in one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Amman. Set in a historical house, here you can come and learn how to prepare a four-course authentic Jordanian meal, and enjoy savouring the dishes you made. Cost per person 81.86 USD • Amman - In the evening, you can sample three different types of local wine varieties produced by the award winning JR wines. The wine experience takes place in a boutique wine tasting room where you can taste and purchase locally produced, international award winning wines, and learn about the delicate considerations and challenges of producing wines in this region. Day 2 OR Day 3 • While in downtown Amman, visit the Jordan Museum, which tells the story of Jordan and consists of three major galleries: the archaeological gallery, the folklore gallery and the gallery which covers the Arab renaissance and the modern contemporary history of Jordan. The museum features over 40 interactive and audiovisual terminals to complement the exhibits. The museum currently opens daily from 9:00 am till 4:00 pm, except Fridays and Tuesdays. The museum features the private collection of the late King Hussein and King Abdullah, the current king of Jordan. It showcases the history of Jordan through an amazing collection of classic cars and motorbikes that date back to the great Arab revolt, and modern collectables from around the world. Cost per person 4.23 USD Day 4 OR Day 5 • While you are in Petra you can enjoy the magic of Petra by night. The program includes a candle lit visit to the Rose-Red City of Petra. The special aura of the ancient Nabatean trading empire comes to life as you enjoy a stroll through the mysterious Siq of Petra. At The Treasury, music and stories will help you experience Petra as the travel-weary traders of old must have known it. The excursion departs from Petra Visitors Center every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evening at 20:30, returning to the Visitors Center around 22:30.Tickets are 24.00 USD per person, children under 12 years are free of charge. You can buy your ticket at your hotel reception desk. Please note that the walk is not very well lit. • On one of the nights while you are in Petra you can enjoy a night cuisine course and meal at the Petra Kitchen.
